Project: Skagit Valley Tennis Court Cover
Problem: Property owner wanted a cover over the tennis court so people could play tennis while it was raining. The area the college is located in is known for wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour. The Tennis court cover had to be able to sustain these gusts and not be lifted from its foundation. The solution required the use of a 70,000 lbs. excavator to crawl over the tennis court to install the designed deep foundation.
Solution:Installed 36 Helical piles consisting of a 3 ½” shaft with a 10”, 12” and 16” helix blades to a depth of approximately 30’.
Challenges:The installation required the use of a 70,000 lbs. excavator to crawl over the tennis court to install the designed deep foundation without damage to the tennis court.
Results:Installed all 36 helical piles to refusal accomplishing the tension strength and compression strength called for by Engineers without damage to the tennis court.
